I saw the Pleiades
      #125908 - 06/13/04 10:46 AM Attachment (97 downloads)

An unusual perspective and while on a harbor cruise on the Mississippi River last night. Not what you would think, but I hope some of you will find this photo interesting.

Barry,
I have seen that ship before, but I can't remember if it was in the Mississippi River as I went to New Orleans or if it was in the Port here in Gulfport, MS. The name is great !!! Nice job with the photo.

Is that ship made by Subaru?

Nice shot, Barry!

No, I don't think so. I didn't see the Subaru star cluster logo next to the name on the stern of the ship.

Here is another one. If you consider nice sunset clouds as astronomical/celestial/binoculal it qualifies!

The steamboat is the Natchez. It is an authentic reproduction of a 1870's Mississippi River steamboat.

Taking a wife/girlfriend for a ride on the Natchez is a great way to fool them into thinking you are romantic........

It worked on my wife.

Never seen that particular Pleiades, but I have actually been on the Natchez. How long have they been running that particular steamboat? It would've been about '79 or '80 when I was on it, (or a similarly named paddle steam boat in that exact area).

It has been around for quite a while. It still packs in the tourists....

Not to be a spoilsport, but we might want to move this to the OTO.
