Great image for even an experienced photog, however, the sketch's seemingly photographic detail blows me away.

I agree. Quite honestly both are just superb. Beginning imaging with results like that are just phenominal. Then the sketch...I can't help but keep looking at it and seeing what patience it must take to do this.

Excellent work.

It is difficult to choose which one is the better since they are from two different fields of presentation, imaging (ccd) and sketching (drawing). Both are very nice!

Hey Rich, great job. It took me a second to realize I was looking at a sketch and not a photo!

-This was a hard contest and both are clear "winners." I am voting for the sketch partly because I have "been there" on one of my last tours of the moon and think this is a great example of the value of sketching rather than quickly observing. I'll bet Rich saw far, far more than I did, with greater depth and remembrance.

The moon sketch for me, I don't know why but it takes me back to my comic book days and stirs memories of wonder.

I'll get my coat!

Congratulations to the entrants for their achievements!
It would be nice to have separate categories for sketching and imaging.
