Yes! Mark, I didn't realize that it cost so much...I hope to be able to view through your scope one day. Tom

Thanks Tom L & Tom T. I really didn't think it would end up costing that much. I thought about $600.00-$800.00 for the primary, and maybe another $1000.00 for the rest of the materials. It just ended up being one of those "personal best" projects. I wanted to make the best scope I could. Not that you have to throw a ton of money at it to make it good, but the design I had in mind kinda made it impossible not to! In for a penny in for a pound I guess. It sure makes some of the Eyepieces look a lot cheaper by comparison though. I'm happy with it and I guess that's what matters the most. Besides I didn't have to pay "Shop Rates", that would have made the price out of the question.

Wow! Your scope looks like a work of art, and a labor of love. That's one heck of a lot of time and money. I bet it's fantastic, though. Thanks for the article.

Let see, that is $5,000 in materials and another half a million for the tools. That Takahashi FCT-250 is starting to look cheap.
Beautiful job. The design is very elegant and well worth the effort.
(But what excuse do you have now when your wife wants you to fix the plumbing or put in a new carpet? Somehow, "it's too hard" is going to sound a little hollow.)

Nice job Mark. Had no idea you sprung that much for materials. And the anodizing.
Call it: MS1, Marks' scope, first. MXS1, Marks' experimental scope, one. MMH1, metal money hole one.

Ron, MMH1 seems to be the most accurate description.

Wow, you're only on MMH1? Let see, my car is MMH1, my wife's car is MMH2, the 10" scope was MMH3, the 14.5" is MMH4. Then there are the big ones: WMH1 (Wood Money Hole 1, otherwise known as our house) and LGH1 and LGH2 (Little Girl Money Holes 1 and 2).......
