Rob,

I also built my current schief using only handtools and simple materials. The OTA assembly is made of aluminum tubing, wood for the saddle between the secondary and the primary tube, threaded rods to keep everything together and an old pressure cooker to hold the primary mirror. I really love low-tech solutions in ATM'ing.

You are absolutely right!

Nice work, and very nice scope. I never look at anything as it was intended. I am always looking at things as how they can be modified for scope purposes.

Any close ups of the schief?

Rob

yeah Rob,

I recognize this. On the other hand I can fully appreciate good craftsmanship in scope building and I love the looks of beautifully machined parts. It's just something that goes beyond my capabilities and knowledge... You can find some close ups on my site (can take a while to load though).

Hi Eric,
I was at Starnights last year where I saw your scope and mount. A very beautiful job indeed. The mirror was made by Royce I believe?

I wish I could post a picture, but it is snowing (big time) in Golden, CO and UPS won't drive out to the Bisque shop to pick up Mikey's new ME.

Maybe next week.

Sorry, I did not realize the title of the picture does not show! Stephan is correct, it is a Parallax Instruments Mount - HD200C-O.

I just put the little 80mm on it for scale!

Kurt

Looks like a Parallax HD200 to me. An amazing mount that needs to be seen in person to truly be appreciated.

This is the only picture that I have of my mount. Its not the greatest shot but it works. Its a version 2 Atlas EQ-G. Just this past weekend got my new GPUSB from shoestring and I am able to autoguide. But just as expected its been cloudy here in mid Michigan since I got the darn little black box. Hopefully the skies will break over the holidays.

This is a better image of the mount.... I know its a standard atlas and is boring but whatever. I love the thing and thats all that matters!
