Kerry,
the EQ6 looks very comfortable on top of the G11 Tripod! It would be very stable. Nice piece of work.

Hi, Rob.
A couple of friends had LXD650's with issues but mine has been troublefree. It's a very stable, precise mount with a powerful controller and, to me, seems to be a terrific value.

I understand. Still, all the examples I know of locally are working fine now.

Another thing is that I am very much down on Meade so I refuse to use their products. Very bad experiences in the past but, that's just me.

Sure, everyone has his own experiences. I've been luckier; nothing but satisfaction over the years with lots of gear from Meade, Celestron, Vixen, TV, and WO.

My 650 works great. I purchased the 650 as my portable mount. It is a replacement for my LXD55

Hi all,
this is my first post on CN ever. This mount picture thread seamed like a good starting point. Anyway, here it is: an early Atlas mount (no jitters!) carrying my homemade schief 200/4000. A great combo for visual moon & planetary observations and webcamming (just starting). Maybe a heavier mount would have been better (and more expensive) especially in view of the long secondary tube (170 cm). Works as a charm as long as windgusts are not too heavy.
