Lovely set up Ben, I've watched you build up your set up for the past few months and am very jealous. Great imaging mount and scope as well.

I'll be out myself tonight, looks very clear here in the UK, just watching come dancing and then Robin hood on the BBC,.......

Have a good nights viewing Ben....

Regards,
Neil.

Nice mount I see you have the optional clutch knobs and tripod knobs.

How well does it track with the 130mm scope?

Great 'scopes, not quite so sure about the mount

At the moment I have a mixed relationship with it, it never quite performs as well as i'd hope. For visual it's near as anything perfect, for imaging it's frustrating. It can't do unguided reliably at 384mm focal length, unguided at 1040mm is almost out of the question. I'm trying to figure out guiding at the moment. They can be good, mine just isn't quite there yet.

Ben --

That's too bad, 'cause it sure looks classy with that AP riding on top. I know these things shouldn't matter, but I always find it vaguely annoying that the color scheme of my C9.25 and AP600E clash....

I try not to look at the colours of my mount. I think that the performance should speak for itself and the G11 is a fine mount. Admitidly not as good as the ap900 but even so.....

Hey, Pat, I wonder, what is the latitide limitations of that GEM, it looks like you could run into some trouble if you were up in Alaska?

It is, as you can guess, an awesome mount. I haven't been able to do any imaging as it is being held up by my HEQ5 tripod which unfortunately is like having a big spring under the telescope. I had an adapter plate made to mate my HEQ5 with the AP ADATRI adapter. I have been using it only for observing and with the Mach1 and Traveler, it is fairly usable. The Mach1 needs a far better pier for imaging and I am waiting on various products to come to market. Both AP and PWT have announced portable piers for it. Here is a picture of the ADATRI adapter to HEQ5 tripod assembly. I bought an empty 1560 Pelican case for the mount but have to purchase some ultra heavy duty 90 pound foam for inside it. Once that is done I'll post some more pics.
It is obvious that the Mach1 is capable of carrying much more than I have on it right now. If you need a very high quality mount with built-in Goto that has a high payload capacity and is really portable then this is probably as good as it gets. I am tending to rate it between the G-11 and the AP900 but I really want to put it on a decent pier and really have a good workout with my C-11 and see how it does imaging with this long of a focal length.
