I've heard very limited things about these - but what I have has peaked my interest. PJ Anway - a good friend and excellent observer - highly recommends them, stating they compare well to some of the most respected eyepieces ever produced.
So, I just ordered the line (yeah, BOTH of em ) from Astronomics.
Any comments on these? I'm curious as to what to expect.

I love my XFs, XLs and XWs, but never tried the XOs. Not sure I'd ever be able to use the 2.58mm (what a weird FL!) in my skies; probably could use the 5.1mm occasionally though as I do get to use my B/TMB and Tak LE 5mm EPs some. Guess I'll have to wait and see what you have to say about it...

I suspect the 2.58 is the 5.1 with an internal amplifier. The 2.58 has 6 elements, the 5.1 has 5.

We just expect YOU to make comments about those eyepieces.
BTW, I was about to buy them at different times and wait for your advice now.

A 5mm (5,1!) Pentax XO is comming with courier from U.S. in a few days - I hope. Have already in 5mm: Radian, Tak LE, Supermono, UO classic. Will try to compare, bút the weather over here is awfull, rain and clouds all the time.

I just hope they have less field curvature than the TMB supermonos.
I can compare them to the nagler zoom, the 5t6, the B/TMB 5 and a barlowed TV plossl (and probably a few other things), so I guess we'll see. If I don't like em, I hope I can move them. (I took a bath on some pentax XL's a while back and I've still got a sour taste in my mouth. )

Henrik,
Did you buy that one off astromart?
I nearly wrote him and asked if he still had it.

Ha! We can answer that right now. There isn't any! The 5.1 is listed at 3.6 and the 2.58 is listed at 3.9. I'm hoping they will be like the super monos tho. Those are incredibly tight as well, but you really don't notice due to the design mechanics.

Nothing unusual really. I bought em new, didn't like them, and couldn't find a buyer after extended postings. Pentax resale traditionally hasn't been nearly as good as TeleVue. Heck, I don't think anybodys resale is as good as televue, percentage wise.
If you want to "try" an expensive eyepiece TeleVue has always been a less expensive option as the resale value is nothing short of amazing. Personally, I sure as heck wouldn't buy a $300 eyepiece for $280 - I'd rather just get it new. The $20 savings isn't worth the chance. But I'll take advantage of that when I go to sell.

What, no Tak LE? I thought you had at least one of every eyepiece known to astronomy?

I have used the Tak Le's - they're nice, but I kinda preferred other options.
Mebbe I should look at them again.

Tom-
Funny how things have developed... now that the XW's are out, large, & in charge, the XLs have become the red-haired step-child! But a much-appreciated one at that- infrequently popping up, consistantly fetching a $200 price, & don't hang for long on the market. But i suspect what you describe may now be occuring for the XWs? And their arrival may have been (partly) what scuttled your XL sales efforts
Sure can't argue against the TV resale value... mike b

Actually, this was long before the XW's were out. For one of them, I had the posting up for around 6 weeks, and wound up selling for around 50% of new.
It really made me realize how important resale values can be if you might not keep it forever.
Money was tighter for me back then and I can tell ya, I wasn't a happy camper.
