I've been away for a few months due to surgery. What I am impressed with is the way you guys encourage each other. The pictures may be so, so, but you offer help and words of advice regardless of the outcome. I finally got a decent mount - the EQ6 with Go TO, and plan to use it with my 35mm camera on the mount alone. I would like to take several exposures on the same object seperated by say 2 minutes to see how long it will track before the stars start to go. I will start with the 50mm lens and the try the 135.
You guys have fired up my enthusiasm. Unfortunately, clouds are doing a number on said enthusiasm.

I have not posted for a while either. I am so glad that everyone has fired up your enthusiasm.I am a little disappointed at this statement:"The pictures may be so, so," In this hobby there are so many variables,to me just to capture anything on film is a great accomplishment. My first shots had stars trails, were out of focus, too short, too long, you name it,but the excitement of just capturing something was a thrill. I feel that all the shots presented here are great in there own way.

I didn't mean the so, so that way. Compared to the incredible shots of the Hubble and some of the shots the digital guys are taking. I agree with the getting anything down on film is an achievement. I tried to get a few shots the other night with the camera mounted over the scope. I thought I had the shutter set on "B", and pushed the cable release for an exposure of M31. I sat back and counted away for 10 minutes. I even covered the lens when the train went by. I went to release the shutter, only to find I had it set at 1,ooo. OK, next shot of M45. Camera came loose on the mount half way thru the shot. OK, let me try something easy - like Almak - a double star. Try focusing on that one. I will be amazed if anything turns out, other that black on black. Can't wait to try afocal.
