Here's yet another plug for Sky & Telescope's "Pocket Sky Atlas." It's a *great* publication because it's thorough, very deep, yet very hand & available (sizewise).

Yes, I have to agree. I have had mine for a while now and think it is great, I use it all the time when I am out observing.

You know, I find myself using mine more indoors, as a convenient companion to whatever guide I'm using while I plan a session. For a grab-n-go small atlas at the eyepiece, I still use my trusty Bright Star Atlas. I guess you get into comfortable habits and then tend to stay with them. - Rick
