Make a wedge, Sean. All you need is steel and a welder (maybe a few more things...)

I'm proud of my (half-complete) wedge (that's why i keep posting pictures of it...

Kim, here's a closeup of the altitude locking 'bolt'.. as you can see ballpoint is less technical, more 'writing'

just for photgraphic purposes - all i could find without using the wifes jewellery

Hehe, I find that ball point is quite easy to understand than the technical term. From what I see from the picture above, I find that yours is altitude fixed, am I right?

Is this a LX200? Erm... from the view of astronomers, this is bad. It ruins our night vision.

Kim, there will be a screw underneath to adjust altitude, then locked in place (with a ballpoint pen ). There will also be an azimuth screw.. I just haven't made them yet.

Do you think it will be stable if you insert a ballpoint pen?

Someone is really getting into the spirit, but you guys are right, that would be kind of a problem for night vision.

This is my new set-up!...it's not seen first light yet due to my location.(2.5 miles from London Heathrow airport).Good clear night last night and only ONE...yes ONE! of the 'seven sisters' visible by direct vision and only three by averted vision...how bad is that!...hay ho!
'Her indoors' is buying me a tent for Christmas which means out to the dark site we go!!

Here's my 8" LX200 classic with an Orion 80ED piggy-backed on it. The whole set up has just been installed in my new observatory.

Here's my new (and hopefully final) set up with a permanent solid dew shield and dew heaters installed. Dew shield made by Chris Livingstone .

I been thur Heathrow man that is one massive place, I would think you have to go a good 10 miles to get away from the afterglow of that area.
