Here is that picture I promised. Taken from the peek of my garage roof, looking south. Just roll out from the large scope garage onto the large paved field, and Wamm!
Now I just need to wait for grass to grow. Note the nice BBQ area. and just on the other side of my office is a horse shoe pit. For the shoe chuckers in us all.
Can't wait for June...
Rob GOMOC
I hope you don't expect us to ever leave once we come. I put down roots very quickly anywhere that has a BBQ and a horseshoe pit. Add an observing field and it'll take a team of Belgian plough horses to drag me away.
That's what I was hoping you'd say..... I expect to see you guys early..for BBQ, some shoes, some chattin, and then some nice viewing.
I try to provide the full mean deal..... If you want it *Super Sized* you got to bring your own scope, and gear..... Maybe we can set a record, and have everyone on the opening night bring all thier gear...for a Family picture..

So, Rob, now that your brother-in-law is gone, does that mean that there will be no more Bigfoot sightings?
Keith (not that that would be a bad thing... )
Well my buddy, my B-n-law is still there and will be so till School lets out around the 16th of June. That was part of the deal. I wouldn't kick him out till the kids are outta school..
I think when we cut down all those trees we actually destroyed a Sasquatch nest. Looks like a big Ostrich nest but with stinky fir instead of large feathers....
Did you know BigFoot lays eggs???? He sure smells like eggs.. I'll make sure there are no BigFeet, when you come up..

I have been working on GOMOC's Logo, and I think this is a good start.
I'm still waiting on all your responces.

Well Keith got me thinking about keeping it family friendly. Note the seasoned observer, with the kids....plus the moon/stars, encompassed in the name.
I think it is pretty good too.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

That's pretty good Rob. Simple, bold and to the point. It portrays learning and adventure. I think its a winner.

Rob...now have it cast in a bronze plaque and mount it on the post coming into the site. Going further, you could have smaller ones cast for winners medals to hang around your neck. Just a thought.

I like it both artistically and thematically. It'll be hard to see at night, though.

I give you all the credit for getting me on that line of thinking...
My other ideas were far too complex, and from afar they looked like a mess.
Thanks bud

I see where you're going with this, and I feel your energy, but I was thinking of more like, T shirts..
I have been in contact with an outfit out of NY, and I may get a deal on some shirts....
That means you can walk away from here with more then the exhilarating experience, but with a commemorative T shirt, as well....

Rob,
All you have to do is fill me in on where the good panning streams are.
Keith (That's why they call it Gold Mountain, isn't it...right...maybe?)

That stream is right down the hill. And is easily accessed.
Bring your pan, and have at it...

Hey Rob - I really like your first version of the GOMOC logo! One minor suggestion that came to my mind is to arrange the stars as a known northern constellation. I'm really not good at computer art unfortunately or I'd give it a go for ya.

Thanks...
I just got done talking to TAS, Tacoma Astronomical Society, and they have shown interest in touring, and using GOMOC grounds for thier gatherings.... And last night was so awesome, and clear, I just about wet the bed(my pants).
My wife even commented on how beautiful and open the sky was. She even said it was awesome!!!
If I can get OAS, and TAS on board, I'd be in heaven..
