I fairly new and await an C8-SGT (XLT)( I expect on Wed.) I’ve been using an ETX90 for a while and to help ward off my anticipation of the new scope, kept myself busy in my woodshop. I was intrigued by some of the observing chairs I’ve seen and have built one last weekend based on some pictures. To my surprise, it has found a new purpose in my house and as you can see, is being used by my son for playing video games in my home office while we wait for the scope. I really would love to build my own dob at some point. I enjoy building and design as much as star gazing!

Hopefully you'll get it back, but if he's like my kids you probably wont... now you'll have to wait until he's asleep to observe...

Tried that once... he just wanted to make sure I left a crack open in the window blinds so he could bring the controller out with him... I can just imagine that with the stool next to the scope...
Anyway, I forgot to mention that's a nice looking setup you made (wish I had woodworking skills...)
Enjoy it when you get a chance to use it!

Thanks Varmint, I've been dabbling in woodworking for 20 years or so and appreciate the complement. It really wasn't that hard. I'd say my investment in wood ( I used oak) was about $50. On another note, I have way too many kids ( separate subject..) and am fortunate to have at least 2 of the younger ones very interested!

If you can do an observing chair with that level of workmanship a good Dob should be no issue! I have found that careful workmanship is the most critical part of building a scope.
