Weekend Under The Stars about 40m SW of Laramie, WY will be held the 9th thru the 11th of August this year.
I met several of my CN friends up there last year and hope to see even more this year. The skies are incredible, the darkness is unbelievable, the camaraderie is fantastic, and it's just plain fun.

The link shows some of the information.
I hope to see you there!

Just to be clear, the event is just outside of "Foxpark, WY". It's 'rustic' but really fun.

I just scored an RV to use for WUTS this year, so if it storms, gets too cold, too hot, or just too too, there's a safe place to crash. Besides, it has a clean - modern relief facility and a shower. Maybe I'll charge a small fee for the use of the above... (KIDDING - I don't share.)

The "DAS Denver Contingent" (or at least 5 of us) have secured transportation, lodging, and are making 'party plans'.
kentak and a guest are joining myself and 2 others.
This is going to be a FUN weekend under the stars (WUTS).

Isn't ANYONE else planning to attend WUTS?
This is a GREAT starparty at a SUPER location. It's darker than the inside of a black cow at midnight with a new moon. There are virtually no bugs (ok, a mosquito or two but the good ol' "Bounce Dryer Sheets" take care of those) and it's just totally BEAUTIFUL out there.
C'mon out and have fun with us, in HIGH, DRY, COOL and Friendly Wyoming, where men are men and sheep are - nerveous...

This has got to be the most economical and logical of all star parties. The registration fee is still only ten bucks and there is no pre-registration so if the weather looks like a wash you can opt out at the last minute. You lose nothing and looking at the stars should be free anyway. "Who can own the wind and the rain?" And who can own the dark sky and the interstellar photons that pierce it?

And it's a LOT of fun in the clear open Wyoming skies. Lots of camaraderie and good folks!
A bit of a drive, but where is there a great - REALLY GREAT - dark sky site that isn't a drive?

Gary and I are planning to be there. I talked to a number of others at RMSS who were planning to be there. I'm sure it will be well attended.

Rick,
Keep an eye out for the DAS crew. We'll probably park the RV in the 'front' lot this time because one of our 'team' is going to be representing S&S Optica...
So far, it's going to be KenTak, RonH, Steph, and me. I've also talked to a couple of others who plan to be there from the Denver metro area.
I think Ron and I are going to play with some Ham Radio during the day and early evening before it gets dark enough to observe...
I was also thinking about bringing up my satellite internet terminal and throwing a wireless router on line, but not sure I'm going to have hauling room for it...

Uh, just to clarify, not THIS Steph (much as I'd like to be there). Y'all have fun!

I've heard from several Denver Astro Society members who say they'll be there, and I'm going to be "test driving" an AstroSystems TeleKit 12.5" Truss Dob, along with the rest of my astro gear...
16 days and counting...

Hi Randy,
I'm planning on heading up there as is Frank from Carbondale. Not sure if we've met but I usually try to attend the DAS open houses at Chamberlin and RMSS. This will be my first WUTS.

You'll have a blast. We're going to try to setup in the "back" area near the back end of it...

Here is a link to the location map.
You'll see two openings in the trees just NW of the little village of Foxpark. The front area is the SW one of the pair, the "Back" area is the NE one of the pair...
The organizer's tent is generally setup next to the path that connects the "Front" area to the "Back" one.

Borrowed the title from Knucklhead Astronomer...
How about a CloudyNights breakfast meeting Saturday morning?
If we sleep in, we could make it about 10AM?
What say you all who are going? Sound like fun?
It'd be a BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakfast), or perhaps if enough of us coordinated, we could even do the cooking in the RV I'm bringing.
We'll have a BLUE topped "Pop-Up" and a big awning...
