Grampian Stars: Robert: Your design inspired my observatory. I saw a picture of it somewhere and noticed the drop-down sides. But couldn't find it again so just used it as an inspiration. Mine is 10x12 and works great. Really like the openness you get with the sides down (great for star parties) but the wind protection where it is needed.
So, thanks for the inspiration! I will post a picture of mine when I have one!

Here's a picture of the Roll-Back-Building for the 36" in Overgaard, AZ. The building tracks can be seen and they're flush with the surrounding patio block for a level observing area for the roll-around ladder. The building is 9'x16', just large enough to enclose the scope after it's pointed low to the north and still close the doors. It's motor driven; open the doors, push a button to uncover the scope, and put an eyepiece in it.

SWWWEEEET!
I'm in awe. What part of the world are you in? If the skies match this setup, I just might move.
