I hope in some near future I may be in one of these amazing finals.
CONGRATS to anyone that reached this final!!
All of you, well done. You have given us a new magic view of heavens.
May God bless each of you with clear skies and even greater pictures/sketches!

Fantastic Job to All but for sheer determination and labor and an awsome photo I had to go with THE OLD SCHOOL 20 minutes of perfection

NGC4565, I love that galaxy. The sketch is great, very much like the visual. They are all awesome. Sounds like a broken record player, but this is a great contest and definitely a photo-finish (no pun intended). Almost impossible to pick. I hope you all win!

Of course, all of the images are brilliant.
But for me the sketch of M51 wins as this this is nearest to what I am most likely to see at the eyepiece. Stare at it for a while and you can almost see it move and swirl, just like the real thing. It is pure.

All images are great! No loosers here at all. Excellant detail in the sketch of 51 and great result from the film shot of 4565. What can be said about the others but I'll not tell who I voted for though.

WOW! These are all fantastic and for sheer detail & color intensity I had to pick Mr. Cook and a neck 'n neck (photo) finish for Anstey and M63.
Methinks perhaps a separate category would be more appropriate for the wonderful sketch(s?) by SGT500 --- as someone remarked earlier, "apples to oranges, strawberry's to-" etc. etc..
I'm kinda' "old-school" myself and have much appreciation for such beautiful examples of manual artistry by true craftsmen...
Best regards to you all - you're all winners!!

fantastic images. chalk up one for sgt500. i know that all the imagers put in hours of blood, sweat and tears or they would not be in the finals. their images are superb. but an eye, an eyepiece, a scope and a pencil snag my vote and my imagination. fantastic detail, and it really looks like that! well done.

All very good indeed but one really stood out for me & should win....
-------------------- Strathspey 15x70's FMC - Amazing cheap bino for the price. Bright, natural color/contrast, sharp, and well collimated. Best for Daytime viewing
Celestron Skymaster 15x70's MC - Field of view has a Smoky/Brown tint making them less bright during daytime viewing BUT this doesn't seem to affect night time viewing...Testing against the Strath's continues!!!
Oberwerk Lightweight 20x80mm FMC - Arrived - Had to collimate them. Undergoing tests.

Yeah tough ones for sure, I love nicks galaxy though lots of detail, the whale is also good, the sketch is very impressive, I have never tried drawing what I see (probably a good reason for that, I can't draw) Ralfs scan is very good, showing how it used to be done. The Lagoon to me was a little over processed but still a good image none the less. and Mikes Jupiter, wow nice image scale there Mike, great detail too but unfortunately I am all Jupitered out and prefer Deepsky so my Vote went for Nick.

Incredibly difficult to make a decision.
I have to say, thank you for the email, it is a great idea and should be done again and again. Allows those of us trying to fight off the gators to reindex our attention once a month. Thank you again!
