Being part of another group who judges each others images, I must say that these are very good. I see some faults, but then again I am hyper-critical. We just got off a contest featuring the Whale and I believe this one would have won. Manually guided film is old school and done very nicely here. Sketching, now that is REALLY old school. Detail in each of these are amazing. All of the contestants should be proud.

A really, really tough decision. All are superb. They are all winners of very separate classes if you take into account equipment and subject type. Roy M summed it up.

Great images, I'm stunned by the Jupiter shots showing that level of detail from a 12" scope.

Argghh, why won't it accept 2 choices? What do you mean no tie? It was so hard to get my choices down to 2. In all the time I have watched the photos on Cloudy Nights, this is the first time the quality level has been this high. Congratulations everyone. If you had all been published on seperate months, you would all have won. I vote for Anstey and Cook as tied, and I see I am not alone!
I was going to send in a photo, but after seeing these I won't embarrass myself.

It was quite a troubling choice.
All amazing images.
Congratulations to all finalists.

I had to go with Ralf T for doing with such basic, old technology- and using it beautifully. Money is not always the answer.

Congrats to Nick. It is an amazing image, full of detail.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback on my Jupiter image, and for feeling it worthy among these incredible images.

Well I'm really knocked out. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for my image.

Looking at the photos I couldn't choose between them, they were all just brilliant. The fantastic sketch, the lovely shot of the nebula (that's just an astonishing image, let alone for somebody starting out), the wonderful detail in the Whale, the incredible work of the guided photograph (I have tried that and know how hard it is to do) and the amazing image of Jupiter (one of the very best terrestial images I have ever seen taken of it). As others have said we are all winners. Sirs I salute you.

I will wear my T-shirt with pride!

Nick

P.S. I forgot to put in the details of the image, it was taken with a Canon 20Da.
