I took it to be a counter weight Phil, but it's just a guess as I have not seen the like before. I'm sure kkokkolis will enlighten us shortly.
Regards. Peter.

You are right. It is a multipurpose Baader Planetarium Dovetail Clamp V Style, used for mounting several things, among them a special 1kgr weight. But I used it for my finder until I got the Celestron Quick Release mount, and to mount scopes with dovetail to a Manfrotto Photo Tripod. Astrophotographers use it for guidescopes and piggybacking. It is very versatile. You may find it here: http://www.telescopes.com/telescope-accessories/mount-accessories/baaderplanetariumdovetailclampvstyle.cfm

Okay, I'm looking at it, but I don't see how one would attach anything to it. I see it is attached onto the outside of the rail, but I don't see any way to hook anything TO it. There is no 1/4-20 or anything else that I can see. Please??

There are several holes at the diameter of 1/4-20 screws. You pass the screws through them. You can use a ''Butterfly'' on the other side (I am not a master of English technical terms, sorry). Believe me, it works.

Here's a link to the device. All the vendor pics are of the dovetail side. From the other photo, it looks like three equally spaced holes around the perimeter and likely 1/4-20 or M6.

Okay, that makes more sense than just looking at the picture, to me.

I insist that this is the interesting part. A WO 2'' Dielectric diagonal, an Atik Manual filter wheel with 3 Baader deep sky filters and a Baader Clicklock adapter. Observing is more fun now.

As many know, last April I invested in a Pulsar observatory in which to house my Nexstar 8i OTA, pier mounted, on a Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro GEM. Many will also remember that after its construction, a lively debate ensued as to what this observatory should be named and ultimately, the best came from Midnight Dan with, what else but the most apt "Telstar" !
I now have to report that a little time ago, following my last birthday, my dear CN friend and colleague Peter9, produced and sent me a superb nameplate which I have now had the pleasure to place proudly on the surface my "dome". I thought therefore, that a few pictures of the set up were now appropriate together with a few words to show my gratitude to Peter.
Thanks Peter !
Best regards, Tel

Thanks for your nice words Tel.
I'm happy you are pleased with the nameplate. Just my way of giving a little back for all you've given me, and many others, here on the Nexstar forum.
Your Observatory looks great. Thats a good shot of the inside, difficult to take, I'll bet. Gives the impression you have plenty of room in there.
Thanks for posting.
Best Regards. Peter.

Very nice, Tel. And it looks like you now have a pier, though I can't really make it out.
But doesn't that hulking brick structure behind the dome block your views in that direction? That has to go

Wow Tel! That is one INCREDIBLE setup! I am sooooper jealous. I can only imagine how much fun that thing must be. Although Phil is right, you should get rid of that hulking brick structure behind the dome.
I dig the nameplate too, TelStar is the perfect logo!
