That was the 1st night I had it out after i got the heater strips and taped them the next day. Also, the AC adapter sits on the EP holder so the cord going to the power tank is straight down, and from the adapter to the forkarm is reasonably long. Plus i make sure to turn off cordwrap. Hahaha. But after that night, I also got my "wing thing" installed as well. I LOVE that accessory!! The 8se looks good silhouetted. Am I right in thinking you stand at the scope when observing?. If so, you would be much better getting an adjustable stool/seat of some kind. The scope could then be lowered giving you more stability and a lot more comfort. Just a thought Jeffyen. Regards. Peter. I finally scored on the other day and I must say it gives the my Nexstar 8SE a whole nother look. It actually looks like something serious,rather beefy,than the lightweight it was. Man this tripod makes this set up rock solid. I'd highly recommend it for those who wish to upgrade their existing setup. And I will continue to use the 8SE mount for visual observing and travelling, but my latest investment for AP work is now under the OTA. The CGEM arrived yesterday and after a slight scare in that the RA would not move more than a few degrees, but a quick adjustment of the worm gear clearance solved the problem. So far so good. Looks like it was made for it! I went with an iOptron mount, but one thing that was tugging me towards the CGEM when I was making my decision was the styling. I also considered the iOptron - which is probably a more accurate mount, but I wanted to stick with the Celestron hand controller - what I was familiar with and easier to go back and forth between this mount and the SE mount. The matching orange is an unexpected bonus. Maybe my subconscious considered it, but my waking conscious had not. But now I like it! Its been blue sky clear all day - but high clouds have moved in over the last hour and its not looking good for tonight. Curse of the new gear.
