Welcome aboard LittleRockDard! Nice setup you have, but if we're going to discuss this we should start a separate thread. Would you like me to do that for you?

Thanks for understanding - Rick

I think I've spun enough yarn to knit a sweater. Thanks for keeping this thread active. It is my absolute favorite on CN.

I'm contemplating a 6SE... is that a binovieiwer? What brand of binoviewer, eyepieces?

Also like the idea of keeping it close to the ground with a conventional stool/ chair setup. My old bod would appreciate that chair.

TIA

Nearly 5 years since I started this thread.Still using my 8" F5 newt. Since added 300d and a 2" neodymium filter with automatic shutter controller. For guiding I use a skywatcher ST-80, spc900, PHD (ascom pulseguide) and an old compaq n410c laptop.

Hi Astrohead,
Nice set up you have there. The 8se is a fine scope. Looks good and dark on your drive.

Hi Astroman68,
You too have a nice set up. I see you use the same jump start unit as I do to power the scope. Mine is into it's 4th year and still going strong.

I'd no idea until now that it was a fellow West Yorkshire Man who had started this thread.

Regards. Peter.

Letting the scopes cool down for Friday night... Unfortunately the clouds came with the darkness
But took these pics beforehand.

ENJOY

My 8se with a few mods...active cooling, hd tripod, denk binos and a pair of 24 brandons...and my latest gadget a Ski-Fi wireless controller so I can control this baby from my IPad.

A quick question on the mount mod: was the CPC heavy duty tripod a drop fit, or did you have to work up an adapter to make the SE mount fit? Thanks!

Clear Skies,
Brian

Brian, the hd tripod was a drop fit. Nothing custom required.
