Thanks for the report T. It will have to hold me over until the weather down here breaks and I can get first light with mine.

Tom,
Fantastic article and an enjoyable read.
I also want to Thank you for backing up everything I initially said about the scope and quite frankly took a beating over. Perhaps now the SS line will start to get the recognition it so heartily deserves!

Tom,
A truly outstanding review - it's very lucid and informative. How much time was the actual cool down time you observed and what would you predict the cool down time ranges to be for a stable temp or dropping temps? I wonder how would these compare to other 5" scopes like the TOA 130 or the APM TMB 130.
Thanks again for the awesome review,
Alan

As an amatuer scope junkie, your article transformed my clouded view of the TMB130SS scope into a crystal clear image. That is one heck of a talent. Great review, Thanks TT

Don, I was wondering if anybody would notice that.
I had a few friends over tonight and we broke in the observatory. Suffice it to say the Ethos was a big hit.

But the proof, as they say, lies in the pudding. (Who said that anyway, and where the heck did it come from? I didn't see any proof in my pudding the other night, and I looked. Anyway...)
Overall a good report on what appears to be a great boon for amateurs wanting something larger than 4 inches without having to sell the car.
In reference to your question above. The correct quote is from Miguel de Cervantes book "Don Quixote" (1615). The phrase is stated as, "The proof of the pudding is the eating", which actually makes sense.
In this case, the proof of the optics are in the viewing.
Thanks for the review.

Tom,
Well written and informative. Thank you. A question or two if I may. You said "The star test was excellent, well within what I'd term acceptable for an optic of this caliber." When you say caliber are you referring to price point, size or something else? Thanks.
