The Mark Two is post -Atkins diet. It is over 11 ozs lighter than the mark One ,which weighed over 3.5 pounds, with a more compact , aluminium alloy design. The bridge on the Mark Two was made more rigid , with higher focussing precision yet a slightly smoother centre-focus wheel. What I'm after is all relevant differences between an Orion Little Giant 15x70 of about 2-3 years ago, and the more modern incarnation. I think you've already told me what I want to know, but if others have comments, I welcome them. The big difference between the Orion 70mm Little Giant I & II is the 11.4 oz lighter wt. I recall the Orion LG II has been around for at least 3 years. My guess is the LG IIs are made in Japan because they carry the same 5 year warranty as my regular(not megaview) 20X80s. I have one important reservation about the LG II: Eye Relief of the 15X and 20X models are listed at 8 mm. I don't need glass with my binos but for me even 10mm is tight... Another issue with the LG II is the price. List price for the 15X70 model is $289. We all know that one can get very good quality 15X70s from Burgess/Oberwerk for ~1/2 that. Based on my experience with my Orion 20X80 and the Burgess 20X80 LW I feel the Orion have very good mechanical construction and ample right diopter adjustment. However, my Orion 80mm is no better opticaly. If fact, edge sharpness of the 80mm LW is noticeably better than the Orion 20X80. Orion has dropped the regular 20X80mm bino from there current catalog. I think there is a good possibility the LG IIs will be gone too in the near future.
