They are Guan Sheng Optical Co. Limited of Taiwan. Their web site doesn't seem to be maintained up to date but here it is: http://www.gs-telescope.com/. The most recent pages are quite old.

I've seen these eyepieces sold at most for 55 bucks....yet I see one VERY reputable scope manufacturer selling them for 79 and 89...don't they realize people talk about these eyepieces on forums like this one???

There are maybe 4,000 Cloudy Nights members and who knows how many unregistered lurkers, but even taking other sites into account that's maybe only be a small proportion of the people who buy telescopes, binoculars and accessories. Manufacturers, distributors and vendors will sell at what the market will bear. If there are enough bears in the market prices will fall accordingly

True enough John! You'll love the PST, I had my first view through it last weekend. Wow. It was my first time looking through an H-Alpha filtered scope. Prominences, granulation....unbelievable! I see one in my future.....

I'm looking forward to it, it should be available to ship to me by the end of the month or so. I'm not so sure about the 12.5mm Kellner though, so I'll trying all my current eyepieces when it sees first light.

I picked up the 15 and 20mm GSO's from DBA and thery're not bad at all, especially considering they were only $35 each. I saw the site selling them for $79 and 89 they appear to be identical but are supposed to be hand picked and have to pass a that companies QA standards first.

Chris, that doesn't surprise me. They make great scopes and quality control is excellent. I imagine they ship the "bad" ones back to GSO or elsewhere. However, i'll take my chances at 35 and 60 bucks!

I agree, that's why I got mine from Dale at DBA, I'm sure if there were a problem with one that he would replace it. He seems to have good customer service.

Hi all,

Wow! Talk about a mountain worth or replies. I think I've read through most of them and I'm pretty sure at this point I've forgotten what I learned
Anyway, I should be recieving my brand new C11SGT AS (f/10) telescope today ( I'm really excited ) and I'm considering getting some extra EP. How do these EP compare to say Meade's 4000 series EP. I've no experience with high-end EP's but, I've used the 4000 series and am happy enough with those. Would the GSO's be competative with the Meade's?

On a side note, what is the main advantage of going with 2" EP's. I've heard several reasons but, it's been from mostly sales persons or the like with a vested interest in my actions to deplete my savings.

Best Regards,

Landmissle

I strongly prefer my 20mm GSO superview to my 26mm 4000 meade in my f8 scope.
