Is dew an issue with these big 100 mm binoculars?  The new Oberwerks are VERY tempting but I wonder if they will require a dew shield of some sort. I have the 15 X 70's and haven't had dew problems with them.

Pat , I can't help with your query from personal experience . I have 15 x 70s too with no problems and I haven't heard or read any complaints about dew from 100mm bino owners elsewhere . BTW is that YOU doing the somersaults on the moon ? ):-) -- if so you should have no problems with dew anyway !

Yeah Kenny, my brother gave me a wedgee and I was trying to shake it loose 
The 45 degree 100 mm really appeal to me. I would hate to spend the grand and find out that they fog up quickly in less than perfect conditions. Maybe we can convince Ron to get a pair and give us his opinion. How 'bout it Ron? With that hat and a pair of 100 mm Oberwerks around your neck, why you would look just like Clint Eastwood. Sorta, kinda.

Sure, stand back 100 yards and squint, could look like darn near anybody. Just don't ask me to wear pink shorts.
My wish list is so long now I may as well add big big bino's. But we just don't get dew down here all that often, probably not until October or so.
But here's my new chair, my scope (and for yucks, the hat too) - and no dew.

Hey Pat, if they do dew (what did I just type?? - ANYWAY)... You could always make little dew shields for each objective - or even use heat tape. I'll bet you could just use the Kendrick system too...

Nice choice of SCT's, I have the same one. Can't help but notice the itty bitty diagonal on it, yet the Pronto gets a 2". Ya know you will need a 2" when you get a binoviewer/starsweeper combo...and it works great with the NS11 by the way.

Howdy-do Tom. If they do dew, I could do what my brother would do. Pop a couple of foam beer coolers off some of the empties laying around his Observalavatory, cut the bottoms out and voila...Brew-dew-dooies. Done!

The 2" diagonal gets put on the NS11 more often than the picture would indicate. I tried a 1-1/4 everbrite on the NS11 and I just could not see a difference, but for some odd reason the 2" does seem to be better. I want to look into that a bit more.
Too many hobbies than demand money so a 2" diagonal is low on the list ('cause I have one...). Just bought a RKE 28mm to try out. I'm intrigued. I also want a bigger tablesaw. Heavy sigh.
It snowed, in Phoenix, April of '96. I loved it. I really really miss the snow. Not the shoveling part though. Have yet to have dew issue though. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough.

That's my brother for you, always worried about the little things in life. There wouldn't be anything lying around the Observalavatory if he picked up after himself when he do drop in for a brew or two. I can see where a little dew on his dewie would create a little of a brew-ha with him. Perhaps a couple of his "Slim Fast" cans would fit on the end of his bino's.
