Necessity is the mother of invention.
A very close friend just had surgery to regain sight after an accident left him blind 6 months ago. I had him looking thru the BT's in a matter of moments...........with no tripod.
Although he only had vision in one eye.........he was one happy camper.

Sage, Nice improvisation, and I must say that your friend is lucky to have you.
How's the azimuth motion though? I'm not critiquing your setup, in fact my first jaunt into astronomy involved a making *very* badly improvised mount for my 16x50s.

That's pretty slick, Later.
I like the natural wood table. What kind of wood is that?

Mek,
THATS what I'm talkin about !
Like my grandfather used to say.........."Not much for pretty, but strong like bull."
Actually the azimuth setting procedures were pretty cool.........It always took 2 people to aim it. "Little more to the left....whoaa.....too far go back........no ...too much.............there..............THERE ....DONT MOVE IT....................

....................Oh my God...................Wow! "
Gotta love that audience participation!

Gary,
Don't let the shape fool you. The two supporting packets are NOT joined to the central one! I was at a camp at the time, and there were no tools of any sort to use. No nails, clamps or even ducttape, so I had to balance it all the time and not put too much weight on it. I did get my first looks at Jupiter and the M7 star cluster through it, so I can't complain!
That's teamwork, for sure! I hope no one was tasked with doing the tracking, though.

Mike...........That was a friends table at his house.........I believe that is 2 ceder stumps attached to a thick pine slab.........very cool.
Mek..........the tracking duties were split up by whomever was the nearest to the rig..........everybody was more than happy to adjust the table for the viewer.
It would have been nice put a lazy susan under the yoke assy...........would have made things a bit easier.
