Keep us posted ont he date you will be heading over Mike, I might be up for that...might even bring the scope too.
I'll post a note once I figure out when I'm going, and I'll try to give at least a couple of days' warning, or even better a week or so. The more the merrier! You're welcome to stay and observe, spend the night, whatever.
From here, it looks great Mike! Looks like I can buy that observatory, now that I have a place to take/leave it.

The one above the wine cellar? Right! Just be sure to leave me a key.

Yes, indeed. I haven't been there, but I understand they're all set up to accommodate a number of people, with poured slabs for equipment and probably other amenities. I'd like to meet these guys. Two years running now, I've wanted to get to one of their star parties and something has always gotten in the way. And not just inertia.

Is it windy there? I remember that area kinda is windy...
I could be wrong. Beautiful open skies though...

Not really. The air is constantly moving from the west at a hat-removing gait, but not what I'd really call "wind."

Howdy
Why are we waiting until June to get together? It sure seems like a long time to be chatting on this thread. We should try for a new moon in April

Nope.
Say, did you happen to notice if there were many trees at that State Park?

It was pretty tough to see, what with all the tree's in the way.

Darned trees!
Did you go down by the lake? Looked like (on google maps) that there is a spot that was clear next to the water looking south and west.
Thanks for checking it out, Kerry. I wonder if there is anything farther up that road... the next lake up is fairly large with some good north shore locations...

I had that problem when I was trying to see the forest.

Sorry Tom, I missed your question. I did check it out, its actually across the street too. The area wasn't big enough for alot of people or that level. And it still suffered from the "tree" problem.

Yep, I checked out the whole road. All the land from there was all privately owned and no place to pull off and view.
