While looking around the Lumicon website for something else, I stumbled across a mount they sell that I've never seen before:
http://tinyurl.com/2mqhwe
Looks sturdy enough for giant binos (rated for 19 lbs). Downside is it's heavy (45 lbs) and not too cheap ($480), but there are not many cheap mounts for big binos. Anyone seen one in the flesh?

Using a cradle mount like this on anything other than an adjustable elevator crank center column will very quickly become obvious to the user as a shortsighted application of an otherwise good solid stable design. As you point (especially large) binoculars to different elevations, the eyepieces change height dramatically. If you do not have the means to change mount elevation to accommodate the change in eyepiece height, you will find yourself stretching out of your chair or crunching down to keep your eyes at the same elevation as the eyepieces. An adjustale center column completely eliminates that problem.
For that reason, I would not recommend this setup.

The column does adjust 56" to 72" height, but the lack of a crank could make adjustment a real pain for heavier binos.
S&T reviewed the Parks Newtonian that is on the mount like this - the OTA got much better marks than the mount.

Without an elvator chark, you would never be able to adjust that column height while observing.
I mount my 10# 25x100s on a Bogen 3246 with 501 head. From a seated position, I can keep one hand on the handle to point the head around and one hand on the crank to change column height. I can accomodate any change in viewing altitude with smooth fluid motion with no interrupption to viewing, for a lot less cost and far less weight than that mount.
