Well got tired of opening my observatory roof by hand, installed a 1/2 horsepower Chamberlain garage door opener and man !! its nice, wish I had done it sooner.

roof closed inside, chain and cable attached to eyebolts ran through 2x4 and attached to springs to keep tension

roof open inside, you can't see, but too the left is the roof and back on top of the warm room is a pulley bolted to the warm room roof and the cable goes around it, very simple design but it works !

messy warm room, the little blue box on the desk is the remote and there is a button hardwired in the observatory also.

I noticed you have a couch in there!! That for those times your in the doghouse ??

On that opener.. Is there a "stop" to keep it from going too far either way ??
