I got a pair of Celestron 25x100 SkyMasters recently and I'm real happy with them...
Thing is, I'm revving back up with observing after 20-some years off... and...
Now, I'm planning on getting an 8", or better, scope...
Anyone ever heard of mounting some 25x100s on a scope???

You will end up with the binoculars in a lot of positions that will prevent you from putting two eyes behind them to view.

Hmmm.... Seems obvious but heck...

then, you need a red dot to help your 25x100 finder find the object first.

How about a 15x70mm or 16x70mm as a finder for the 25x100mm.

 Let's see now: 12" Celestron + 25x100 Binos + 15x70s + RedEye...
Nope, it's hopeless...

If you are planning on getting an 8" scope, a 50mm finder will suffice with a red-dot or Telrad zero-power finder. A 100mm finder isn't needed and the weight alone will send your poor little 8" for a big nosedive.

Enjoy the 25x100's an alternative to the 8" scope, with a separate tripod -- as a "GrabnGo" alternative for when you don't want to set up the scope, or to examine things wide-field before you do a closer study with the scope.

Alex...I've been enjoying my 25x100's ever since I've got them. Takes a few minutes to nip out back and sit in my recliner to view Comet 17/P Holmes and I've been watching it for 7 nights in a row. I never did this much observing when I had my telescopes because setup was such a hassle and long drawn-out process. With these binocs, I just grab-n-go and I'm ready to observe in literally seconds. Tonight I also scanned and saw Comet Holmes, M-31, NGC-457, M-27, The Double Cluster, and M-13. If I get a few days of no rain, my parallelogram mount is going to be set up for a few days in a row.

I agree 100%. I use both my binos ALOT more than my scope. There is times when i kinda wish i saved my money and just used binos for astronomy. For me; Its just more rewarding and easier.

Alex, my 16x70s always accompany my non go-to C9.25 as a finder. I put a RDF on the bins and have a Telrad on the scope; matching the finders is easy. The scope and mounted binoculars set up side by side works great for me. Sometimes the "finder" view turns out to be a better one than the higher mag one! Getting the Big Picture before zooming in on the particular helps me appreciate what I'm looking at more.
A good binocular is always a perfect partner to a scope, they compliment each other; just easier to enjoy both if each is on it's own mount!
Enjoy,
Rich V
