Cygnus redux Yashica FX-2 with 50mm/1.7 ML with a UV filter Provia 400F, at 10 minutes, wide open @ f/1.7 Homemade piggyback bracket attached to the front of my Starfinder 8, Jump starter powereing the RA drive, and a home made reticle aimed at an out of focus star.
Er, um "hand guided", literally.
This was Saturday night's attempt at the Osceola National Forest, near Sanderson, Fl, affectionately called the Swamp.
Feel free to manipulate, since I just discovered that my hotoshop Elements does not have the curves function.

Do you think the vignetting is from teh wide open aperature, or from the UV filter that I couldn't pry off of the lens?

Probably. I get the same thing shooting at f/1.9.

Up in the top right corner? I saw the red but I was sure which nebula it was.

North America Nebula. Great Start! Try stopping down to f/2.8 and that should help with the vignetting.
I wonder if you might get more detail with no filter?

The filter was stuck to the lens barrel. I'll see what I can do this week to get it off, but that's what I was thinking. Since I don't have a drive corrector, I was guiding the scope with my hand on the end of the tube. I didn't want to risk a longer exposure, but this experiment worked out well enough that I'll give 20-30 minutes @ 2.8 a try, if I can hold out that long. I tried to make a corrector from a kit that I bought, but it didn't work. I'll revisit that project as well. Another idea I am tossing around is mounting the camera and an old Meade 60mm refractor to a piece of plywood, and bolting the assembly to the eq pier. That should cut down the weight enough to track better by just the RA motor.

To calculate exposure times, a good starting poind is to expose for "f-stop squared" minutes when using 400 ASA film and average skies (LM 5-6). So, 10 minutes @ f/2.8 should be more than enough, expose longer and you will only capture more sky fog. Experiment to see what is best for your observing/astrophoto site.
You should definitely stop down the lens two stops to improve sharpness. You'll always have some vignetting or uneven illumination of the FOV, but this can be dealt with the help of PixInsight.
