Great article Tom! Go ahead, keep it up and you may break down my resistance to getting a zoom.

Nice article. I did have one question...
You state, "What governs scatter? Coatings, number of elements and mechanical construction (edge blackening, micro baffle / anti-reflection threads etc)..."
Doesn't polish play a factor here too? Sorry if this comes across as nit-picking, but I just want to be sure I understand.

Hi Mike,
Thanks!
The 7t1's never had dual barrels. Yours is one of the last t1's made.
I must have misread and was thinking of the longer focal lengths that have dual barrels.
Regards and clear skies,

Tom T,
Great report.
As it happens, my "green letters" collection consists of a few old-school type 1 and 2 eyepieces, plus a well-used 3-6 zoom. All but the zoom were bought used at a sweet price on A-mart, and I've never had the slightest thought of replacing them. So, you've already covered my primary eyepiece case.
So I guess I won't even have to read part 2 of your Nagler report.
(But I will, I'm certain!)
Clear skies,
Jim
