My Hyakutake Photo
      #1976647 - 11/11/07 07:35 AM Attachment (62 downloads)

Hi:

Since I was browsing through the posts in this forum, I thought I might as well make my own contribution, even if it's 10 years overdue. :-)

This image of Hyakutake was taken on March 26, 1996. I used a Canon F-1 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens, Fuji print film (ASA 1600) and a minus violet filter. It was something like a 20 minute exposure.

I'm looking to get back into film astrophotography once my StellarVue `scope arrives in a few months. I recently picked up a Canon 200mm f/2.8 lens for my Canon F-1, which I am looking forward to trying out.

Very nice image of Hyukutake!

Man, I remember that comet very well...as I am sure others who looked skyward when it was present did as well. Of course, the fact that a bunch of loonies who were part of the cult Heavens Gate killed themselves to join up with a spaceship hidden in the tail of the comet made national headlines also helped to popularize this comet as well.

Anyway, great photo from one of the best comets I have ever seen.

Holy cow!! My appologies as I thought for sure it was Hyukutake...but after rechecking, I stand corrected.

Either way, awesome photo of Hyukutake!
