Recommend a Solar Obs Handbook new
      #1971212 - 11/08/07 04:42 PM

Hi everyone,

After several weeks of rain and then several weeks of cloudy nights on top of that, btw, never buy two scopes within a week, I have come to the conclusion, after suffering from observing withdrawals, I need to be more rounded. Meaning I would like to delve into solar viewing. Hence, I need a recommendation on a solar observing book. I would like to keep it to one book, yeah right, a pipe dream?

After a quick search of the CN forums for solar books how does "Sun Observer's Guide" by Pam Spence compare to the book you would recommend?

thanks,

Well, for simple white light work, I do like OBSERVING THE SUN by Peter O. Taylor. I haven't seen the Spence book yet. Clear skies to you.

Thanks David for the recommendation. There are several books out there, I thought I would get a few more to chime in about them.
