If you know anyone who wants a pair of so so big binos, this deal is very hard to beat. I picked up a pair and they're not perfect, but for the price they're pretty sweet.
70 bucks gets you a pair of 20x80 zhumells

Yeah I saw those from a couple of other vendors. The return shipping fee might put a dent in the deal. Often times looking a gift horse in the mouth you discover a terribly advanced case of gum disease.

I ordered two pair from telescopes.com and kept the best pair. Telescopes.com has free return shipping so you cannot go wrong with this deal.

See this Zhumell 20x80 deal thread posted 9-27 exhaustive thread discussion we had on the same subject from a month ago.
Please note that we had FIVE people in a matter of two days report that they got these binoculars and they were so far out of alignment they could not be used. And note the report that confirms they are not FMC.
For all the reasons I mentioned in this previous thread I would recommend this IS NOT a good purchase. you can spend your money much more wisely. But also as I stated in this thread, it's your money, spend it however you like. But then, you make your own bed and you have to sleep in it.
You must understand, there are a lot of reasons why a 20x80 binocular could be sold at a closeout price of $69. None of them are really in favor of the consumer.
My advice, Not recommended.

Hmm, Kinda uncalled for. YES, They are NOT the greatest binos at all,BUT there ARE quite a few happy folks that own them. For some 70.00 is all they can afford. I dont think the "sleep in the bed you make" comment applies. Shawn

Most of the happy owners of the Zhumells may not have bought their's from the same bin that all these $69 closeouts are coming from. just a thought. You may think it uncalled for. I think it the best advice I can give to forum visitors who may not know better and are ready to plunk down their money. read the previous thread. Not uncalled for at all. Timely. same discussion is currently taking place today on another binocular forum.
Think about this. I had a long conversation one time with Kevin at Oberwerk. When Kevin checks binoculars and pulls them out of the stock as not fit by his standards or gets returned binoculars back from unhappy customers, all those binoculars go into the returns bin and eventually all get boxed up and shipped back to China, at some expense to Oberwerk as a distributor. But by doing so, none of those binoculars ever get out on the street. No, Oberwerk does not have closeout sales. I'm fairly certain that Garrett optical does the same thing. Someone give the dealer the call and ask them if they select out all the below standard binoculars and returns and send all them all back to the manufacturer.

Last night I returned my 2nd pair of these in a week... yes, Telescopes.com does pick up the return charge, thank goodness. Both of the samples I received were worse than unusable, and I 'm not very hard to please.

Ordered a pair of Oberwerk 11x56. From what I've picked up from this forum, those seem to be a safe bet.

Does collimation seem to be the problem on these units, or is it a more fundamental optical flaw...astigmatism or something?

Saw double through these worse than I did during any major-league college drinking binge.... collimation was the problem with mine.

BUT,
if collimation is an issue in many of the units that we are hearing about, from members and new (previously non) members alike, then the issue is a mechanical construction one.

when i got mine and of course out of alignment they were not packed good, the collimation screws for the prisms are pretty fragile and tend to go out of collimation if dropped or rough handling by the shipper ,they should of packed with bubble rap or some sort of packing material, not just in a plain cardboard box, any way i just wanted the 80mm barrels for another bino project. regards john

I've been active in various internet forums since shortly after Al Gore invented the internet.
I've seen every kind of moderator imaginable, and they're all a little different from each other. In my opinion, EdZ has a way of expressing himself that is a really unique combination of politeness and firmness. I can see on some occasions how some people might think he's being overly polite and on other occasions how some people might think he's being overly firm.
In this case I personally find that EdZ is expressing an appropriate balance of politeness and firmness. It should be noted that many people would refer to products on fire sale from the reject bin as total junk. The fact that it is really cheap shouldn't cause people to think that it's a bargain. A true bargain has both a low price and acceptable quality. If either is absent, it's not a true bargain. If no one sounded a proper warning, no one would know until it's too late.

Even the worst pair of these can be separated into a pair of 20x80 scopes, and would make a great finders for a big Newts!
Ya just can't find a 20x80 finder for $70 out there! I'll bet that you could sell the other half for at least $50.

An 80mm finderscope would be a good thing. I use a 70mm on my dob now and love it. Honestly If I had to return my binos when I got them due to a defect or mis alignment I would not have given the brand a second chance.

Hey, how's it goin' Anthony? How are your binocs? Mine are still being used quite frequently as of late. I am also working on beefing up my new Antares Bino Mount with a new tray addition. I'll be posting pics and info soon on the progress of my new mount. In the meantime, ENJOY your Zhumells !!!
