Hi! I opened upt this thread not because i ignorantly believe that its a 100% great deal, but for the fact that the price is really attractive and i want to know if anyone here tested this model, or if anyone here bought it at the current price and what does he think about it?
Could it be at the same quality build of the other "great buy" the 20x80 Zhumell?

There's been SEVERAL threads relating to these binocs in which EdZ has pointed out that SEVERAL people have been returning these binocs due to very POOR alignment. I'd stay away from these binos if I were you.

Seems to me if you don't mind aligning them, they're a heck of a bargain. Some of us have a choice between something that takes some fiddling, and nothing...as opposed to something that takes some fiddling, and $$.

looks like a good buy but i would make sure your getting the one in the picture and call them.they do have larger and better shock resistance collimating screw's. i have had about 3 pair orion which were out of alignment burgess slightly out (oberwerk has good return policy and were in collimation) and nova from canada and they are all similar in design. the metal case should help in shipping from getting banged around, but make sure they pack them good. john

Mr. Bill -
I remember an NZ wine I liked - Huia Vineyards - $6/bottle. I bought a couple of cases. After someone's write-up - John Palmer? - the price rose to $16/bottle!
Buy low, drink high!

I see they have upgraded to individual focusers, but this level of binocular is sure to be fraught with problems. Be very wary and check them out thoroughly, and don't be surprised if you have to return them. If buying Chinese I think it safest to stick with the Ultra and Signature lines. Try them out and then buy something better.
Regards and clear skies,

Yeah they are about the same as those from Garrets and Oberwerks, but there could be quality issues....especially dangerous for me because they will wind up across the Ocean here in Romania, and the chances of returining them if broken or something are nul because of the shipping costs...

As a long-time reader here, I believe that Garrett and Oberwerk regular (i.e., not Signature or Ultra) binoculars are a step up from the Zhumell and other lowest-priced brands/models. Garretts and Oberwerks are at least fully multicoated, while Zhumell, Celestron Skymaster, Barska, etc., are not. That one thing is worth at least a few more dollars. Beyond that, if you deal directly with Garrett or Oberwerk, you are dealing with vendors with good reputations for customer service and quality control. That also by itself is worth a few dollars more.

Ed Cannon,
The Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm is FMC. http://www.zhumell.com/specialty/zhumell-binoculars-astronomical.html
The 20x80mm Super Giant does not give the optical coatings.

The Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm specs state
high-performance features include: Fully multi-coated lenses
that does not state all surfaces are entirely FMC. I don't know if it is entirely FMC or not.

I paid $199 for my 25x100 Celestron Skymaster a couple of years back at an online sale Adorama was having. The Skymaster is not the best example of a giant binocular, but at $200 it represented great "bang for the buck". I got a lot of enjoyment out of that binocular. Just because the Zhumell may not measure up to the likes of Oberwerk does not mean it's a bad value. But I do agree with what was said above, if you have the means, then get a "better" binocular. If your finances are limited then get the Zhumell.
Eventually I sold the Skymaster for $150. So I basically rented them for two years for $50 or $25 per year. Not bad.
Regards and clear skies,

At least these are on your side of the Atlantic. They are pricey but a step up in quality.
