Hello,
I have been wanting to purchase a C9.25, however I am confused as to whether or not it is fastar compatible or not? At Adoramas's website there are verions of the C9.25 that say it is Fastar compatible! Is this true? Thanks

I've never heard of a Fastar 9.25" - the 8, 11, and 14 can be had with this capability, and Celestron's site omits the feature from its 9.25" list.

Yes, the Celestron site doesn't mention it. However, the description for the C9.25 on the Adorama site lists it as fastar compatible ... I guess I was just getting my hopes up.
If you could purchase a C8 or a C9.25 which one would you get? Is fastar an important feature for astrophotgraphy or would the C9.25 do just as well? Thanks.

I'm fairly sure it's just an error on Adorma's website.
For conventional prime focus work the C9.25 will have an advantage because of its larger flat field. Fastar (or Hyperstar) would give much larger FOV with a given imager but only works with certain ones.

Thanks for the information! One more question ... how much difference will there be between the Aluminum tube and the Carbon Fiber one? Is the extra cost worth it?

On the back page Celestron add in Sky & Telescope according to the specs the 9.25 is NOT Fastar compatible.

Hi, James.
The carbon fiber tube looks really cool; I get a lot of comments on mine. I kinda doubt there's any worthwhile functional difference. It might be a little bit lighter. The big justification Celestron gives is that the tube will change length less with temperature changes, making the focus more stable. I've never noticed any difference between this one and older ones.
