I hadn't seen that before. When I followed the link it had the Nov 2007 issue, but the Jan 2008 issue has been out for a week or two. I didn't a more recent issue listed. I wonder if they will be updating it.

Senpai- you have a PDF most likely because you paid for the PDF subscription (hopefully; thats the only way you should have it).

And what about the link http://www.skyandtelescope-digital.com/ ? I tried to find it at www.skyandtelescope.com with no results.
Is it legal link or I must delete this info?

The digital version of our November 2007 issue is part of a marketing test being conducted by direct mail. Some prospective subscribers are being offered the instant gratification of a sample digital issue, while others are being offered more traditional incentives to subscribe.
For this test we worked with Texterity (www.texterity.com), one of the leading providers of digital magazines. Their interface is quite intuitive, and reading a magazine using their technology is very similar to reading a magazine in print -- except that all the URLs in the text and in the advertisements are hot links!
At present, we have no plans to roll out a monthly digital edition of S&T, though I hope we can do that someday. In the meantime, we plan to continue adding to our PDF archive, which you can find via the Archive button at the top of our Web pages on SkyandTelescope.com.
Now that you've discovered the sample digital issue, what do you think of it? Do you like the interface? Would you be interested in having a digital issue every month? Would you still want the printed magazine too?

Well, I like the interface and the idea!
Now it is possible to read S&T on my Pocket PC mobile device and it is great!
I beleive that e-versions must exist as a supplement to the "offline" printed versions, not instead of them.
Some people like to read information everywhere on mobile devices but some of them have no instant internet access or unable to read from LCD's or prefer to read old-good paper books/magazines (I like it to).
I think, that it is an interesting marketing method like "try&buy" to find a new subscribers of the real printed versions of S&T.
There is also a great possibility of fast search through the entire issue! I like it and found it very usefull!
Many russian magazines have public online archives (in PDF or/and simple HTML). I think, it is normal and usefull. Every paper issue has it's topicality time (2-3 months) and after this time it is not a problem and normal idea to publish archive versions online for readers convenience.
Thank You very much!

I think the interface of the digital version works pretty well. It really needs a keyboard shortcut for going to the next (and previous) page. Maybe there is one and I just couldn't figure out. Efficient navigation in a digital book is important.
I currently get the paper copy and I would give serious thought to subscribing to a digital edition instead. This is especially true if past editions are archived for you and are searchable (and it appears they are).

I'm very interested in a digital issue. For me, the printed version would not be necessary anymore. (I was one of the *prospective subscribers*)

If you passed the savings on to the customer (printing/mailing isn't cheap, I know) I'd be very interested in reading an online version. My local paper is available online often long before the delivery people arrive (it's an afternoon paper) and I typically read it online and just toss the print copy into the recycle bin when it arrives. I wouldn't get the print version at all, if not for the coupons.
I wouldn't pay full price for the online version.

I will always want the printed version. The Digital version is good in addition to, but not instead of. If the printed version goes away, lamentably so will I.

I'm with Rick. I always want a printed version, there is something special about holding a book in your hands. I'd pay a little extra (maybe $5) for the digital version.

I'm old fashioned enough to want the print version coming to me, but keeping the magazines for future use is gradually becoming a problem. I have a very small house and storage space has become a major headache. I'd subscribe to both versions (if the price was right) in order to have an electronic archive right on my hard drive. The print copies, when I finished with them, would go to someone who could make use of them.
If, in time, the electronic version was the only option, I'd take it.
As for what we've seen so far, I like the way it has been done. I'd agree with the earlier post about turning pages, though. That could be a bit more user friendly.

Rick, this is a fabulous option! I'm a subscriber to the Australian edition of S&T, but would love to have access to an online version. Save the trees! no boxes of old issues gathering dust! instant access to articles new and old! The interface is great, keyboard navigation would be a nice touch. A quality product just like the magazine has always been! Where do I sign up? Regards

And some they do and some they don't, and with some it's just as well.

Picking a bit of a nit, but I just noticed that two-page photo spreads lose a lot of their impact in this format.
