I purchased recently a used and battered Minolta SRT-201. I want to play with some beginning astrophotography. Right now, I mean more like piggy back right now, than prime-focus. For now, I'd like some moon-shots. All I have in the camera is some Fuji-film 200. What F/stop, and shutter speed should I use? The camera is in total manual mode (need to buy a battery for this thing), so that's why I'm asking.

I would go ahead and experiment with prime focus for the moon now. What is the focal ratio of the scope you plan on using? That would be the same as the f/stop calculation for the camera. Scroll down this post for some calculations at f/8. For an f/4 scope, cut the times in half. In any case, bracket the exposures 1 or 2 stops in either direction. Focusing is the big challenge for the moon, you cannot trust what you see in the viewfinder. Search the board for "Hartmaan mask" for a good start, and use a really bright star to focus before you swing over to Luna. Do you have mirror lockup?
