Ok, I promised I would post a picture. It was our first try at an eclipse. Instrument was an 8" F/6.5, shot at prime focus with 400 ASA. Obviously out of focus, but it was hard to tell through the camara's screen. Hope we do better next year

Hello Sky! Thanks for the kind words. Other guys of this board took some really good pictures. It was our first try at an eclipse and we were really looking forward to it.
It had been cloudy the whole day, and during the eclipse we had clear skies in every direction except for a single cloud right above us that poured some rain during the event. So there we were, with rain falling on our heads and taking shots at the Moon. Quite an experience I regret not having access to this board so I could comment what was going on.

that is a great story! i am a newbie and have just begun to access this board too... i have an orion 130 short tube reflector f/5 and just acquired an orion 90mm f/10 refractor (OTA)... i think i saw the horsehead nebula for the first time on this clear early morning with the refractor... it was quite faint, but in comparing B&W pics from others, and checking the star configuration, it looks to be that....tomorrow morn i will try the reflector and attempt a pic.... sky
