Yep

During my Broadcast, one of the viewers said they were from a school (Orphange School actually) and she said the at the whole school was watching! and the kids were fascinated!!

Now that's what makes this video broadcasting worthwhile

Great images Ken. Thanks for sharing.

I must admit, a part of me feels sorry for the Samsung. You produced some great images with that camera. - I hope it doesn't just start collecting dust.

Thanks Jim.
Nah mate, the Samsung is being relegated to the 2nd scope, and hopefully I will be able to switch back and forth between the 2 cameras and scopes while broadcasting.

As is common in the mid-to-late summer evenings, especially after midnight when all of the ground has radiated most of its heat away, we get pretty good seeing down here.

We finished up my broadcast with Jupiter, of course, as this requires removing the focal reducer to get a good image. Jupiter was about 55 degrees up at this point.

Here's the raw frame. C9.25 at f/10, SDC-435, IR filter. The GRS is just transiting.

As I remarked in the broadcast, I am very surprised at the detail that is visible. I was under the impression that only small-pixel cameras could deliver detail on the planets. I seem to be quite wrong.

Next time I'll try a barlow to increase the image scale.

Slapped a sharpen filter on it in Photoshop to bring out the gap in the SEB a bit more. Can't wait for Mars this coming year!

Michael, Jupiter did indeed show fine detail the other night. I thought the image you broadcast of NGC 7662 (Blue Snowball) was extremely sharp. Did you happen to capture that?

No, I didn't. I actually didn't do any capturing, which was somewhat uncharacteristic of me. We did find that at f/10 and a little zoom is the way to go for those itty bitties!

It is crazy... We are capturing detail almost equivilent of the first Pioneer images 35 years ago with a fraction of the effort...and cost.

To see the very dim Helix Neb so well shows how good this Mallincam camera is Ken. The huge dynamic range in the Carina and M42 Nebs were not too bad either. All around well done.

Thanks Bert,
well, here's Helix with the same MCX camera, same Focal Reducer, same programs etc, except this time through my ED80, not the 6" Achro (Screen Grab from last nights Broadcast):

and here's an interesting result.

Look at the quality of the images from the different scopes.

Left is the 6" f5 Achro I have been using for the last 6 months, and on the right I thought I would try my ED80 with the MCX (also see pics in posts above).

I think you can guess which one gives the better result

Ken - great MCX images and with modest aperture 'scopes and great advert for the media I can see you're enjoying your new cam - keep up the good work

ps: I seem at last to be getting better guiding of my LX200 via the piggybacked ETX-70 guider via PHD [like M27 below in 60s exp] under typically poor skies with the 'W' of Cassiopia barely visible to the naked-eye. The cam cuts through the London LP murk whilst it's pointless to eyeball through the scope

That's a great result Maurice, and a HUGE image scale
Lovely strong colours.

Yep, Video cuts through LP pretty good, but it also cuts through thin cloud pretty good too
