Wow, beautiful images! I especially liked that of the Ringtail Galaxies, they're a good pair.

Some excellent image captures Ken. Last night May 12 late in the morning I captured M16 & M17 using the new MCX2-STD Class 0 camera. These are screen captures with no post processing. I like that the newer X2 cooling helps reduce a lot of the amp glow, noise and warm pixels. M16 at 60 sec AGC 4 using my C9.25 @ F4.2

Chris,
Lovely! I'd be curious to see how much the amp glow is supressed when gain is ramped up to the max, with suitably brief integration, of course. There might be an upgrade for me in the not too distant future...

Thank you very much Glenn. I usually use AGC at 2 or 3 max but wanted to try 4 and was very happy. Next outing I will try AGC from 6 to 8. Thanks for the idea to test it with full AGC.

Wow, you guys get such excellent results. I have been trying to get this type of results with my Samsung SCB-2000 as Ken has shown on YouTube. One of these days I'll get it right.

Here is my single 90 sec M27 with no post processing at AGC 4. M27 was only about 51 degress altitude and will only get better as it goes higher. I use the new X2-STD Class 0 Mallincam camera.

Chris, are you using the MCV-1-E for these shots, or has the new copper cooling diminished amp glow that much?

Hi Brian

First factor is the standard (STD) class 0 ccd sensor from Sony shows lower amp glow, noise and less hot pixels (only 2 hot pixels at 2.1 secs test in my MCX) to start with. I do have amp glow more using the same ccd sensor im my Xtreme, but no where near the huge amp glow seen in the EXView HAD ccd sensor when the images start to go 60 secs or more at AGC 3 or 4. This M27 image captured with the new X2-STD Class 0 and has no hot pixels at the 2.1 secs test. 2nd factor is the less amp glow that you are noticing is strickly caused from the new cooling design in the X2. When I captured this image last Fri/Sat on NSN there were several people watching my comparison of both cameras MCX-STD Class 0 & X2-STD Class 0. I will post the other M27 captured under the exact same condition only taken minutes apart using the exact same equipment and settings including the MCV-1-E.

Can someone show an example of what amp glow looks like? I am not exactly sure what that means.

Amp Glow is the annoying illuminated area in the corner of images when the exposure/Integration gets longer.

Look in the top left corner of my image.
It is caused by the Data memory Amplifier being located right behind that part of the imaging chip, and as it heats up it affects the chip itself.
Cooling the chip helps a bit.

Good explaination Ken. Actually your image posted the amp glow is not too bad and I have seen a lot worse. What was your AGC and exposure on this image please?
