Hi to All,
As a newbie to this site (CN), I am still finding my way around! - However, let me say what a fantastic site (CN) is and the prompt help I have received from the moderators and Roland especially.
In part here is what I have just PM'd to Roland:
I have been using video as an aid to astronomy since 1988, so have picked up a few tips along the way. I also have a wide variety of equipment including a good selection of scopes. A picture is worth a thousand words, OK, I have 50,000 images to sort through.
I am a tertiary qualified medical/forensic/scientific imaging specialist, as well as a med lab scientist (retired)who has been lucky and had the opportunity to use an incredible number of cameras during 5 decades of professional life, as well as the same in amateur astronomy, using film, CCD's, Web cams,DSLR's etc. It is time that I started sharing what I have learnt so that some of your questions can be answered - with illustrations where possible.
Being the associate editor of Australia's premier astronomy magazine (as an unpaid volunteer)does take up a lot of my 'spare' computer time! so please bear with me as I develop my video orientated galleries.
I look forward to being a part of the CN membership.
Clear skies...

Sound great Shevil. I'm sure when you get a chance to show us some of your 50,000 images, we will have a lot of questions on equipment, technique, and just all around advise. One good thing that would be helpful for all of us, is to know what kind of assisted video equipment you are currently using. I think most people put that type of info in their signature, so they don't have to do it again every time they are asked.
You seem like a very good source if information and a wonderful addition to CN.
Once again, welcome to CN, and make yourself at home. Neil

Hi smokin oakum,
I have far too much equipment to list in my signature, so I just leave it all out and hope people will look in my Picasaweb albums. I use many other camera types & systems, not just video. I am also a hoarder/junk collector/ museum gatherer etc!!

Nice selection of cameras! which one is your favorite right now?
By the way, you can call me Neil. Smokin Oakum is a nautical term, meaning to run with haste. Oakum was used to patch maritime boats, and was very flammable. The older the boat the more oakum it had, and when you saw smoke on one of those boats you ran [fast].
