The strange thing was, all I said to him was that I had ordered some binoculars last Monday and wondered if they'd been dispatched and he immediately said something about them coming on Friday. I didn't say which model, who I was or anything. And he had no time to look it up. I wonder if they actually have any binoculars in stock. After ringing I emailed as I was unhappy with the lack of clarity and I still haven't had a reply to it. I sent that on Monday. Terrible service.

Frustrated, I sent them a mail.

"Thanks for mail
We are currently waiting for these items.
As soon as we expect it on Thursday next week."
... and that was today.
They responded fast when I spoke of cancelling the order.
I dont like this, I'll see If I can get them someplace else and and I'll cancel the order.
Cheers Peter

I've just rung them as they said they would send them out today the last time I rung. He told me he didn't know when they'd get them in! So, I've cancelled. I would advise any UK readers to avoid them. They promise dispatch within two days but I don't think they even stock them!

Thats very disappointing to hear lads. The 12x50 model is available in John Lewis department store in Newcastle but, they cost £189! I still think they represent a good buy for that price,I was tempted myself. Im sure if you both look around you will find them cheaper elsewhere. Goodluck, Steve.

If there's no difference between Nikon Action and Action Extreme. If they're the same thing, and I can't find two models on the Nikon site with that name, then they're available at http://www.warehouseexpress.com for £89! Reduced from £170.

Ok, after much searching around I found a US site that stocked both the 12x50 Action and Action Extreme. The latter being $100 more, so they're obviously different binoculars and the warehouseexpress one isn't such a good deal. Is the Action an older, inferior version of the Action Extreme?

Yes it is, the action EX model replaced the Action model. I saw a couple of places selling them for sub £100.
That much I have been able to find out.
However I am not sure how they compare to the Extreme range. It would be insteresting to hear.

There are several comparitive reviews / comments specific to the Nikon Action v Extremes right here in the CN archives.
It would appear the Extreme is a far superior model

Yes, the Extreme is a new model for 2004. According to my 2003 Nikon booklet Eye Relief of the 12X50 Action(Product# 7206) is only 9.4 mm! I don't think I want to use any bino with ER less than 10mm. The Exteme series is waterproof(Action NOT). wt of the 12X50 Extreme is 1045g/36.8 oz. 12X50 Action is 975g/34.3 oz. FOV is the same at 5.5 deg.
The Action series has receieved favorable reviews on CN and eleswhere. Check our mini review section for reviews of the 10X50 mddel.

I think I'll probably go for the Skymaster 15x70 for £80 then after all. I didn't realise you could attach binoculars to a normal camera tripod with an adaptor. I have one.

Very Interesting! It makes the price at the shop in Newcastle very reasonable,I thought that at nearly double the price there was something wrong somewhere, there was, they"re different binoculars! Steve.
