Hi,
I purchased the Zhumell 20x80's last week and seem to have gotten a good pair. My question is I want to purchase the Orion Paragon-Plus Binocular Mount and need to know if they are usable as is. Do I need any other adapters to attach the binos to the mount?
thanks,

According to the picture, and the ad, the Paragon Plus uses an L adapter to connect binoculars to the mount.
The Zhumell 20x80mm comes with a braced-in tripod-mounting post. Depending upon where the balance point is for the 80mm binocular, you might have to install a 1" center post extension to allow the tubes proper clearance on the mount.

Hi hallelujah,
I just found the bino mounts pdf instruction page from orion it mentions using an adapter #7589 for binos with a central support shaft, like their MegaViews. Would that be like the link you provided or would that be in addition to the adapter that recommend as well?
thanks for your response and Happy New Year,

The one I recommended is an "additional" accessory, needed ONLY if the clearance between the 80mm and the tripod head is insufficient.
I would start out with whatever Orion recommends and see for yourself if it fits your needs.

Richard,
Hi. Interesting. I have the Paragon and have been curious about the Zhumell 20x80's. I have heard everything from don't touch them with a ten foot pole to they are pretty decent.
The Paragon will not accept a direct mounting of any kind of bino's. You need the adapter they show on the Orion Website, #07589 for any Bino with the built in mount like your Zhumells have. For my setup, on top of this I mounted the original head that came with my tripod, with an "L" adapter on top of that with my POS 10x50's on that. This was to achieve the other axis of movement that the Paragon is missing. This allows some side-to-side adjustment without having to move your feet.
Hope to hear more about those Zhumell's.
Clear Skies

I just bought the same binoculars. When you get all settled and figure out what you need to buy, can you pass that info along here? I otherwise would have no idea what to get.
Thanks!

Thanks Randy. I ordered the pgram and the aforementioned adapter, they will be here next Tuesday. I will put it together and report back here. Can you post an image of this setup?
Cookey, I hope to have clear skies soon, next week looks like. I'll post my first light and what worked and didn't work on the Orion pgram with the Z 20x80's.

Hi Randy,
Thanks for the images. Nice setup. I imagine that the handle comes in handy for quick elevation moves. That may be something I add later to mine for watching the shuttle from up here in Jax. Even if I only used my 10x50s.

Cookey,
I rec'd the p-gram mount today, nice finish and sturdy. I'll post my first light tomorrow but wanted you to know that with my Z20x80s I did need to use the binocular mount adapter #07589 from Orion. It comes with the 'L' adapter for a front mount type bino so I can use the Z20x80s and my 10x50s. Nice!

Hi Gazer501,
Sure, this image is not to good but I'll post it now and then take another tomorrow sometime. The tripod is not an Orion tripod.

I really enjoy this setup. I had it out in the driveway with my 4" refractor tonight checking out M42, M45 and the Hyades. Several neighbors stopped by for peeks and oo'd and ahh'd both the scope and bino views.
