Well here's mine. Not much just a 30 year old copy of an Optic-Craft Machine mount. Had my machinist fabricate it from scratch with O-C's literature and my personal modifications. Shafts are 3" mounted on 3/4" plate steel. Channel iron saddle with 60 lbs. of CW's and Parallax rings. Believe me this is way adequate for my needs. Absolutely no play and as smooth slewing as butter! Mike

Man that's sweet. Simplistic, but elegant.
Ya need the *brawn* to shlep around those beauties.

I'm impressed. ...And man oh man...they're green.

Well Terry there is no red leds on the pads, they are reflective red tape to help to see where the tripod legs are in the dark although with a flashlight.

Here is my Schaefer AT-4 mini-mount. I believe it is the smallest Schaefer ever made, at least it was the first of this size and was put together by a fellow named Morgan Chapman with Bill Schaefer's help. My understanding is that Chapman bought the Schaefer business and nameplate from Bill Schaefer back about 1989. I don't know how many mounts he made or how long he kept the business alive. He advertised under the name Astro-Track I believe. This mount has 1 1/8" s.s. shafts, a 4 5/8 byers s.s. worm and a tangent arm dec. drive. It works well with my 6" f9 Starfire and separates into two assemblies for easier transport. The Observatory pier is a piece of old 6" well casing topped by some sort of irrigation fitting I found at a scrap yard to which I welded an azimuth plate that Morgan also made. He also made me one of the trademark portable piers for field use. I use a 12v Vogel drive corrector to drive the synchronous motors the mount uses.

I have the same tubular tripod. I replaced the stock aluminum legs that came with my CR-4.

Man! It's a bear to haul outside! It must weight five-times what the aluminum legs weighed. But no vibration with this baby.

Hi all,

This is my work horse LXD650 with the 1697 computer. It carries the TAK 128 easily. Here it has my TV101 and Coronado. When going to public star parties I use this mount. The LXD mounts were highly underrated in my opinion.

Love the stuff on this page. Those Tak SV's are enough to slobber over, I had no idea there was a 78 NSV ! I'd hang on to that one for sure. Martins cool picture looks like an inter-planetary probe has landed down to explore Earth.
