Dec07 DSLR Challenge Poll!

We are very pleased and proud to present the December 2007 entries in the DSLR Challenge. The poll will close on January 8 at Midnight. The winner will be announced at our earliest opportunity after the poll has closed.

Here are December's entries!

Scope: Celestron C102 refractor (500mm f/5).
Mount: CG5 goto, unguided.
Camera: Unmodded Canon XTi.
Orion broadband LPR filter. Modified TC80N3 timer.

131 unguided frames of 2 minutes each at ISO 1600.
Dark frame subtracted and adaptive stacked in Nebulosity. Processed in Photoshop.

A lot of great entries. If I had clear weather I would have posted a 2000mm prime focus closeup of the horsehead just to be different I'm kinda surprised no one else did...

Way to go Mike. You sure got my vote on that one.

What tickles me is all of the entries (except for that dummy Wise fellow using too much focal length) look better than 95% of the Internet images. Won't be long before the SBIG 11 guys come over to the DSLR world.

A galaxy sounds good to me. NGC2903, a mag 8.9 barred spiral in Leo is in good position.

Yep, I think you are right. NGC 2903 culminates near midnight at mid-month, which puts it in prime position. It's not in the current Hall-of-Fame, either.
