Arrived home from our New Year's party at 2AM to partially clear skies and desparate to test my third version of a focal reducer [below] on the ETX-70 that couples camera to flip-mirror port.
I did a quick setup but cloud thickened. Still results were the best yet with circular stars even at the corner of the CCD frame instead of tiny 'comets' via earlier FRs. This FR doubles the sky coverage and reached mag 12 in 30s-60s through partial cloud eg better than I can see through same scope on the clearest nights Happy New Year
