Somebody sent me these pics tonight. He thought I might know about this telescope. No clue here, naturally, so what do you guys think?

Looks like a 60mm f=700. Looks like a Parks finder. I have the same mount on a Danchuka 60mm f=910.

To my knowledge, Jason/Empire did not use that particular finderscope mount. To me, this reminds me of a Tasco or Towa. But notice the subtle differences in the mount between this scope and a Tasco/Towa. So it's probably not a Western-version Tasco/Towa either. I don't know what it says on the label, but I am willing to be there is a "Circle T" or "Circle K" on the label. (possibly a European version)

I'm fairly sure that's a Towa-made scope.
It's possible that someone upgraded the finder in the past. I seriously doubt it's original.

Hi guys, here's the only other picture we have. Sorry, no other info at all, unfortunately.

The arrangement of things just scream Tasco to me. The slo-mo knobs, the focuser/knobs, the various hardware, the clamshell... all say Tasco, and probably Towa-made. That finder looks like a 10x40 marketed by a lot of folks (University, Celestron, Parks, others). I just can't place it.

Thanks guys.
The person who sent me the pictures is looking for a nice collectible project and wanted to know if it was worth at least NZ$350.00 (US$270.00).
I said it probably isn't, but I'd run it by the CN experts first, just in case it was an undiscovered treasure!

Seeing as it's probably a 60mm scope of some variety, I'd say not; not without knowing more about it...

You can get a much better deal on a vintage 60mm scope for $270. I agree with Tony - Towa. Maybe not Tasco but definitely Towa. I think the finder is a 30mm though - just a long one.

Preston -- I'm pretty sure that finder is a 10x40 model. It's way too large in diameter for a 30mm. Look at the eyepiece, and assume the eyepiece barrel size is 24mm (0.965")... that thing is just a little under 2x that diameter, and it's not that much smaller than the OTA. Assuming the OTA is for a 60mm (and might be a bit oversized) that makes it a 40mm.
Picking nits, I know, especially since there's no way that scope is worth US$270, unless there's something that's not really obvious... but I doubt it.

No problem Tony! It's just fun to try and hone in on stuff. Look at this link below and search for the photo of Mikey's 80mm Sans - he as a very long 30mm finder attached to it. I think it's the same finder. So maybe this is a Sans? Post a pic of your classic

I have that same finder with my Towa 339s. That's not the same finder.
