I added another Cometron to my stable. I picked up one of the Sky Scanner 80mm f5 units made by Vixen. I have the C0-62 (complete in case, very good condition) and picked this up as I wanted a bit more apeture for wide field imaging. In good shape, a few minor paint dings, case is damaged a little but still usable, tripod is missing a plastic ball foot and finder crosshairs missing. Focuser needed adjustment. Glass is clean. Came with Vixen 4mm Ortho and 12mm Ortho and Celestron Japan 1.25 prism diagonal and the eyepiece ext tube. Poked around a little on a regular tripod last night, M42 looked nice, trapezium nice and sharp. Mars was only ok, purple color noticeable, was not tracking so couldn't test real high powers. May need a little collimation, have to test without the diagonal once I can PB it on one of my C-8s. $62 shipped, so I am a happy camper. Brian

I know the one you speak of, I was going to pick that one up and forgot about it. Great deal! I'm glad one of the classic followers here got it. Your CO-62 has the same tabletop mount right?

Jim, Yep, the same mount. I primarily use them piggyback on the 8's, but I may try one side by side with my c-90 for guiding on my SP mount. (I think I can set something up since there are 2 mounting points available if I take off the dovetail.) With the eyepieces, it was a very good deal. I was looking for a 12mm ortho for my Celestron set. Brian

Brian,
There is a plate made for the VSP mount called the "Multi Accessory Plate" which bolts on to the top of your VSP head and allows you to mount two scopes side by side - or a scope and a camera, or any combination of accessories. They are kind of rare on the used market though. I had one a while back and sold it because my plans changed.
It's shown in the back of the owner's manual for the VSP mount.
Regards and clear skies,
MikeG
