I'm about to purchase my first scope. I've decided on the SkyView Pro 120 (f/8.3), but I have a couple of questions regarding what I should initially accesorize it with.
From what I understand, the mount comes with the True Track single axis drive - should I get the dual axis drive? Once I get comfortable with the scope, I intend to hook-up my Olympus OM-1 to it for some basic shots. Also, the Intelliscope upgrade kit will no doubt be required down the road - I'm assuming this upgrade will require the dual axis drive anyhow - right?
One more thing - I realize this probably belongs in another forum, but I thought I'd ask anyhow: When I purchase my barlow, I'd like some advice on which to get. I've noticed that there is the standard 2xbarlow, but also the 2x 3element barlow and the deluxe 2xbarlow - does it make much of a difference which I get?
Thanks for all your help!

There is a difference between the SVP with "goto" and one with "intelliscope". The intelliscope upgrade does not require either of the drives (although I would at least want the RA drive). You push the scope to where the computer indicates. I have the SVP with a single drive and the intelliscope upgrade. It works great. If you want the mount to move on its own, you will want the "goto" upgrade and it will require motors. I'm not sure, but I think the goto upgrade comes with the motors needed.

You can check Orion's site for more details but if you're planing on the SVP I'd get the get the version with the full GoTo. It comes with a RA and Dec motor and I believe still allows you to use a Polar alignment scope which is helpful for setups and quick aligning. The Push-To Intelliscope version does not allow use of the Polar alignment scope although it works very well and conserves battery power it is not the best option for photography although many people including myself use it for astrophotography sucessfully. If you need to save the bucks now at least get a RA motor if you want to try it for photography. Keep the exposures short with the SVP and stack. I'd suggest under 90 Seconds. For a barlow get a good 2" version if you are thinking of photography. Orion has a good 3 element 2" barlow as do others.

Orion sells a separate GOTO upgrade for the SkyView Pro mount, it comes with digital stepper motors that replace the standard drive motors.
I would suggest you get a "minus violet" filter as well to reduce the color halo you will see on bright objects. Orion makes one, and Baader also makes one that is high quality and competitively priced.
