Great book...
I have the older version of that same book, and there's a LOT of useful info in there!
Another GREAT option would be to get Jerry L.'s book (On CD)...

He also has a CD book for Image processing...

The Covington book is a good general reference, but doesn't have as much detailed "how to" information on image processing as I was hoping for. It's got a lot of information about equipment selection and setup - so it sort of depends where you're at on the learning curve as far as how much good this book will do you.
The Lodriguss CD book is turning out to be an excellent reference and tutorial for image processing.
Both books cover a lot of the same ground.

Since you mention you're a noob, then I guess you will learn a lot from the book. There's not much detail on image processing though, you'll need some other source for that.

I need to get exposure technics down and learn whats the best setting on the camera for a certain night object. After that, then I need to learn the image process.
I'll post some pics I took 3nights ago. Pretty decent results(for me ), but I cant get the sky to come out dark. it has a red glow toward the horizon due to light pollution. And the thing is, my skies are fairly dark.
